Merry Christmas from Dan Mott Productions

With Christmas a week away I wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. It also gave me a reason to design a card which I love to do every year. This year has an outdoors theme, that I felt really depicted a nice place to be for the holidays. Enjoy!

I have been meaning to blog...

Hello everybody.

Let me just start by saying how sorry I have been for not posting in awhile. It has been a very busy 6 months to say the least. As the holidays approach I feel the need to blog more and bring some insight to production. I will try to start blogging more about being on set, and giving some behind the scenes photos.  I will also be posting more video and design work. Until then, have a safe and wonderful holiday. Talk to you soon.

Show Poster Design for The Lantern Effect 6/24/2011 - 001

A design mock-up for an upcoming "Lantern Effect" show at Halftime Bar & Grill in Johnsburg, IL. Leave your comments, let me know what you think. The design is inspired by a tutorial for a boxing poster. I copied a lot of the layout elements, for balance, but the main event was changed up. I also kept the color scheme because I liked the look.

Blizzard of 2011

This is a piece I did, just as the snow began to fall in Chicago, in the biggest snow storm to hit the city in over 10 years. I shot this on my Sony HD Bloggie, at 60fps, then edited it with Adobe Premiere. It has little to no color correction, as i wanted to post it ASAP, while the storm was occurring.

I intend to revisit this in the near future to do some editing experiments with it.

A 'Heart Of The Fox' Christmas

heart of the fox holiday hand-out. dan mott design (c) 2010.

This is a holiday hand-out design that I created for Heart of the Fox, a local McHenry County, IL acoustic duo. These cards were handed out to audience members during HOTFox's shows throughout December 2010. Merry Christmas!

time to blog it.

Blogging has been around, for what seems like forever. However, for me, its all new.

Blogging has never really stood out as something I have ever wanted or needed to do. I have my twitter and my facebook accounts. That has usually served as a perfect host for my random thoughts or comments. However, I recently made a  change in my career, of which I left a job in the suburbs and took a job in the city. After only being part of the downtown corporate working class for three days, I felt I was going to have plenty to share in an online blog, and I knew I needed to start one.

In the posts that follow I intend to provide insight to some of the things I am working on in the media industry, as well as the things I observe here in the city. Of course the name of the blog is derived directly from my twitter account "mottsThoughts," so there will likely be some further take on the posts as well.

I thank you for taking interest, and I hope you enjoy some of the things I have to say. I look forward to posting!
